Kristie Burkett (she/her)

MA, CCC (#111245404), RCC (#24691)

Hello! I’m Kristie, and I’m so glad you’re here. As a counsellor, I’m passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families on their unique mental health and life journeys. I earned my undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care Counselling in 2012 and recently completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2024. I am currently registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association as a Canadian Certified Counsellor and with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).

As a neurodivergent parent of a neurodivergent child, I bring both professional expertise and personal experience to my work. I have a particular passion for working with individuals and families navigating life with ADHD. I understand the challenges ADHD can bring—such as emotional regulation, executive functioning, and self-esteem—and I strive to provide practical strategies and affirming support. My goal is to help clients harness their strengths, build confidence, and develop tools to thrive in their personal and professional lives.

I offer relationship counselling, supporting couples or family members in improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening connection. I also help individuals and families navigate the complexities of divorce or separation with empathy, focusing on fostering resilience and healthy co-parenting dynamics. Additionally, I work with adults facing significant life transitions, including career changes, relocation, loss, or other major shifts. Together, we explore ways to navigate these changes with confidence and create a path forward that feels meaningful and aligned with their goals. I also bring a deep passion for supporting parents through all stages of parenthood—whether during family planning, pregnancy, the postnatal period, or beyond.

Using a variety of therapeutic approaches—including somatics, mindfulness, EMDR, person-centred therapy, and elements of CBT, DBT, and Narrative Therapy—I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment. I believe in tailoring my approach to each client’s unique needs and helping them build confidence, resilience, and a sense of empowerment.

Every individual, family, and relationship is different, and I am here to provide personalized support that celebrates your strengths and addresses your unique challenges. Together, we can navigate the complexities of mental health, ADHD, relationships, and life transitions, fostering growth, healing, and connection.

I’m truly looking forward to working with you!
