Kristie Burkett

Kristie is a dedicated counsellor passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s transitions. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Child & Youth Care Counselling (2012) and completed her Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University (2024). She is both a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in BC.

With lived neurodivergent experience as a human, parent, and professional, Kristie brings deep empathy and insight to her work with clients. She supports children, youth, and adults in navigating neurodivergence, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and self-esteem. She also offers couples and family counselling, guidance through separation and divorce, and support for co-parenting dynamics.

The Swell - MAINLAND office is intentionally designed to be inclusive, child-friendly, and welcoming. With comfort items like blankets and fidgets, and a play space for kids, Kristie ensures her clients feel safe and supported from the moment they arrive.

She specializes in neurodivergence-affirming care, and offers an open, respectful space for LGBTQ2SIA+ individuals and those in non-traditional relationships. At Swell Counselling Services, clients are invited to come exactly as they are, without needing to mask, explain, or fit into anyone else’s expectations.
